Gents
Might be worth trying the likes of the Conrico's or Guava's of this world . The are approved Landy places and do all the same stuff as a main dealer. Can't comment on Guava but Conrico are very good as they are Landy fans and tend to be a bit sympathetic towards us keepers of the faith. Wes Oh woe, oh woe My crusty old landrover, It will not go. |

A very conclusive statement in this thread, thanks. Just shows, most questions have been asked/answered somewhere on here in the past |

Just to add my 2 penneth,
I asked the question as i too thought i'd get it done from new but was put off, firstly from my supplying dealer who said it would invalidate it and then from LR cust services who at first really wouldn't say either way and then one of them (Hayley), and get this, checked with a colleague and said waxoyling was ok but when asked e mail me to that effect wouldn't as she didn't feel comfortable putting it on paper. I wasn't getting a warm feeling, in fact i was really getting the ache with it. I said its either ok or not and it really wasn't a difficult question. I also contacted our forum LR rep and he was looking into it and then batted it away as i'd already spoken to Hayley. Talk about "pass the buck" They were all scared of their own shadow and covering their backsides. It seems this is now the way things are i guess but i also asked about SVO vehicles and if they had extra treatment as if so what are the criteria/stds/process for doing it, "err, i dunno" They wouldn't let me speak to anyone who may know or more senior and were really useless. I must say i was totally losing the will to live and eventuall gave up on the idea as it was just going round and round. I will add that the reason given was incase moisture was trapped and they couldn't carry out the anti corrosion inspections if it was covered underneath. I will add another post following my first experience of LR warranty at Lookers Chelmsford with my 1 wk + 2 day old 90 elsewhere but they wouldn't check my tracking because i had non std (Overfinch Apollo) wheels despite all my remonstrations about how it doesn't matter which wheels are fitted or that they don't really need to be removed. They were by far the worst car dealer, and i have dealt with a lot allbeit Ford (work there so cheap cars) and the service guys attitude totally stank. And not just because they wouldn't check my tracking. Rant over, but beware whatever you decide as it seemed to me that they were looking for a reason not to carry out the work and if you do anything not std it will definitely jeopardise your warranty. Totally wrong when you spend alot of money and the reason we want to do it is because we like LR's and want to preserve and keep them ?? The real cynics may argue that this is not what LR want as they want us to replace our vehicles frequently. Overall i'm really split. I love my new 90 and all its little characteristics but think so far the whole build quality, warranty experience and LR cust service has been "CRAP" My new 90 is now booked in for 2 days this week and will be even longer once the body man looks at it to do his bit. On a £30k+ vehicle, very poor !!!!!! |

You'll not get anyone for LR to endorse rust proofing. Its just never going to happen. However, neither did they say it would invalidate any warranty.
The question over the wheels is different I feel as you have potentially taken your vehicle away from OE Spec. Now, I know nothing of the wheels you have fitted, so don't have a pop if they are the same size. |

Well what is Wheel complaining for then?
(oh, and is this endorsement an admission of failure at the factory to correctly protect against corrosion.......?) |

I was "Complaining" because i was getting conflicting answers.
LR Cust Services originally wouldn't commit as to whether it would/wouldn't invalidate the warranty. I was then told the warranty would be ok but she wouldn't put it on paper as she "didn't feel comfortable" The following day i spoke to "Mike ??" at LR Cust Services again and was told it definitely wasn't ok to do and would definitely invalidate the warranty. When was the response quoted on here from Mike who's now moved on but i did mail his replacement, Ryan who got splinters sitting on the fence and wouldn't respond seeing as i'd spoken to someone else hence me having to speak to LR Cust Services again. Maybe LR's policy has changed regarding anti corrosion treatment since the original response ?? |

When I ordered my new defender my dealer offered me a waxoyl treatment for £240. If the dealer does it to a new vehicle then surely it can't invalidate the warranty? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

My SVX was thoroughly Dinitrolled about 3 or 4 years ago now. When the truck earlier this year was 5.5 years old, my dealer without any questions did a quite thorough job of replacing a pop rivet in the rear which for quite some time had developped some rust around it. They also treated the capping from the inside all under under warranty, and resprayed that part of the rear, you cannot see anything at all, so not sure how big an area they resprayed. All together took my dealer's body shop several hours over two days to properly do this, so it was not just a 5 minute job. At that age only penetrating rust should have been covered by the warranty. Not a single remark or reserve made about the Dinitrol on the truck though, Land Rover after seeing the pictures of the pop rivet just approved and footed the bill without questions. Dealer actually always commented how good a Dinitrol job was done on my truck. So bottom line, here in Switzerland Land Rover do not seem to have a problem with people properly trying to preserve their trucks.

Is it worth starting a thread about what type of product to use and where to get the work done?

My truck when it was a2.4 and not even a year old had the warranty completly void as in red marked on the registration to all dealers
The list of reasons why was huge but the main was a remap that they wouldn't and couldn't prove it had or didn't have ? Now the wheels things is a question I asked at the dealer on Saturday when I was there and they said that fitting 18 inch bowler wheels are covered by the LR warranty but fitting different 18s wouldn't be but the bowler 18s have been made and developed not to put any more strain on tthe bearings / axles 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |

A remap should only void the power train and axle warranty. Nothing else.
