THis isn't very clear cut. It would depend on the induvidual dealer as I know some that would squirm out of gearbox issues because you have bigger tires, and at the same time I know dealers that wouldn't even blink even though you have a 3"lift, bigger tires and a re-mapped ecu. Glyn |

I suppose the dealers get reimbursed for any warranty work so it could be a grey area. I.E. Extra work/income if bigger tyres are not mentioned to those above

Have only fitted genuine accessories to mine except steering guard and RAI which are mantec ( as fitted to g4) wont do any major mods till nearing end of warrenty period, cant be bothered with the hassle of having to argue with a dealer.

As Glyn stated it can range drastically and is based on two things:
The attitude of the dealership and the relationship you have with your service manager! (Not in a gay way!) How busy they are may also be a factor. Even payment at cost is better than no income at all! It does not make good business sense to turn away jobs if your workshop staff are not maxed out! (As explained to me by a service manager somewhere!) If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Got this thread from a search - I was thinking of getting my MY13 treated with Dinitrol or waxoyl, but I was talking to someone who suggested it might invalidate the warranty. Does anyone have any experience of this? If it does I would have thought it can only affect issues with the chassis or doors rather than engine/gearbox etc.

I've had my 63 plate USW Dinitrolled by Mr Zagato at the top of this (old) post and had my car in for warranty work a number of times.
No-one's ever mentioned it. I'd rather have a good underseal job done and be reasonably sure it won't rust within the warranty period, than argue with dealer/LR about repairs. I did have the corroded windscreen 'hinges' and seams repaired recently and it took about two months to get the (clearly needed) repair authorised. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop Now a 2013 110 USW too. |

Holy thread revival Batman, why if it's not one of Zag's several thousand questions asked even before he owned a Defender ...for a short time
But to give my opinion to the OP: Not one dealer has ever queried the chassis protection applied by me to any of my Defenders, not one. As this is the second time this has cropped up recently can I ask who advised you about the potential warranty issue? Steve. A tad over two thousand posts if memory serves me correctly. Bit like self cetifying for a mortgage....became a 'self cetified' specialist in rust protection.......Get Zag to do it....he can answer ANY other questions you may have at the same time. I got a leak sorted under warranty from my dealers along with a new diff bearing. I was running twisted 18" wheels with large tyres and have converted it to a soft top , so reckon its all down to the dealer.
Depends where you take it and who you speak to. My local Dealership at Lookers are fantastic though to be fair Defender puma dormobile camper |

My Dealer put it very simply... If it's the genuine LR part that fails they'll replace it... If for instance one of my Bilstein shocks fails, That's my problem... Which I thought was fair enough.....
