got to fit a new rad. Are the alloy ones worth the extra

I need to fit a new rad after I suspect the little pipe top right got broken by the muppets in my local garage ( but won't admit to it ).

Any way if in going to use my own time I want somthing that lasts so are the alloy ones worth the extra money
The engine is standard and little off road and some horse box towing.

At leat changing the noisy belt and tensioner will be easy with the rad removed lol

Sorry more questions
Is it worth changing the thermostat while its in bits ?
Or maybe even the pump

you cant braze brass

have to be soldered or better silver solder , but you need a bl@@dy big soldering iron to repair a rad as the rad is made to get rid of heat !

unless its a late plastic rad !

maybe I was not very clear.
It's a 110 td5 and had a standard rad that's only 18 months old and now broken and I was wondering if the shiny alloy ones are worth the extra over a standard one

this is where it's leaking. It seems the plastic pipe has craked from the end part of the rad

Honestly, no I don't think it is worth the extra. Standard one performs fine, unless it's tuned to death and you fancy a trip to the sahara I wouldn't bother
