Possible gearlever selector bolt come loose , maybe in top housing on the box
have you got all gears in low box ? If so then problem shouldn't be in main box if you got all gears in low range , then would say problem should be on high range side , but that wouldn't explain the odd gearlever problem Last edited by munch90 on 20th Dec 2014 10:20pm. Edited 1 time in total |

If our talking about td5 box ( as your profile ) then 4th gear is direct drive though the box , so problem could be on 2 motion shaft ( laygear )in the box , the drive runs though 2rd motion shaft for other gears
but then you should have 4th high range and 4th low range |

Yep sounds like the end of the layshaft has snapped off inside the 5th gear housing.

Well dropped the oil today and all was how it should be. No bits of metal and plenty of oil. So looking like the selector.

Doctor google has suggested my problem will be the selector bolt come lose, ant this is a relatively simple fix? However I can't find any information / pictures on where and how to do this, would be grateful for any information.
