Interesting,
According GTR there is not a new recall over the old ones. In the GTR still is a Service Action Bulletin. That means a new pan change or is just for those with the original pan? Here in Chile some friends of us also received a call from the dealer some days ago to change the original sump. regards Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

It seems anyone in the VIN range specified in the bulletin that HASNT had the modified pan changed is now due for it to be changed. Mike

Thanks Ed
Do you think they will change it at first service If I were Landy I would rather change ASAP then replace seized engine Weird that the dealer has had mine so many times and never sugested changing the sump. Maybe here they don't know about it yet. We are most times a year behind the civilised world. James Puma 110 - gone Series III 1973 - going strong |

Your welcome James.
Will be a good idea call the dealer and talk about it with him. It is not mandatory as I understand but looks like LR are trying to sort out the thing ASAP. Here in Chile I know two persons that has changed the sump by guarantee without having damage. Maybe you need to figth a little bit, but if you use the Defender in isolated areas the cost to recover the vehicle or burn the engine, as you said, will be much much expensive than change the piece. My was changed in March after the propshaft hit the sump making a scratch (very lucky, I was at least 200 km from a populated area when we feel the hit) Regards Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

I telephoned my local dealer today.
They told me the sump change is to be done at next service, or they were more than happy to book the landy in to have it changed next week under warranty. I have decided to have done next week. DAZ110 |
