Front doors - remove pin?
Hi again,

Back again with what many would consider a trivial task, however I have a knack for making simple things difficult. Laughing

How do I remove the pin that keeps the front doors from flapping open all the way, the pin that secures them to the stays?

I need to open them further to remove the seal (upgrading with newer seals) and drill new holes. Figured I'd check first with knowledgable people rather than just jumping in and realising I'd bent/broken something.

Thanks!

On my ones there is a split pin you pull out then withdraw the pin on the bulkhead end of the door strap.

Keep an eye out for any washers that may be between the pin and the strap.

You may have a plastic cover over it but this should be simple to remove. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I did this a few months ago:

The removed pin can be seen about half way down the page. http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/

Thanks for the help guys!

mark_d - this is exactly what I'm hoping to achieve, your blog is a great reference for the seal replacement.

thanks!
