The only way go stop the squeak is to apply a hood oil (not WD40) on the pivot of the pedal from above. This needs to be done via the cover, that is held on with six screws, under the bonnet.

Hello MarkyMark
I had this issue on my old 300dti and the only fix I could come up with was to make a pair of PTFE bushes that worked a treat but really shouldn't have been necessary. My 2.4 occasionally gives off the same squeak (which I couldn't live with long term). If it comes and stays then I will do the same if it is the same arrangement down there. Havn't heard of Hood Oil (but will now check it out) I'm still of the belief that WD40 will fix most things. SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Mine was the big spring at the bottom going squeak squeak. WD40 dried out after a week; a few drops of 75w90 fully synthetic gearbox oil worked a treat. Its still ok a year on. 1953 80"

I had for a time the same Little bird stepping on the clutch on my TD5/110...
On a tour through the Alps it was to much - i had to take out my Toolbox ![]() I like the idea of the nipple, but how does the grease find it`s way to the outer place of the axle? It would be necessary to drill some holes in the end of the axle...? |
