Which sits under right side of the bulkhead under the windscreen where I had a water ingress issue recently!

So after a few days standing it started at the first turn of the switch. This was after removing the interior lights. Anyone any idea as to why the lights would be draining power? It's only a problem when the interior light is in the door position.

Recently somebody had a 'no start' issue for exactly the same issue of water ingress in the same unit. Believe they dried out, cleaned the contacts and bagged the 10as unit. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Maybe, and I'm grasping at straws here, because the LED lamps are diodes, and thus only allow electricity to flow one way (bar the 0.7v), maybe that's in some way freaking the 10AS unit and causing some load on the battery?
Having said that, I've got LED lamps in my interior lights (although it's a Td5 not a puma) and I can leave it for a fortnight and still start it no problems. |

Diesel Jim may be on to something here. You have to be very careful with the 10as unit as it will be looking for predetermined circuit resistance and voltage values. It is basically a communication hub sending and receiving signals that it expects certain values in return. Lorryman can explain better. Like with OBD relocation you must ensure and cable splicing is carried out to perfection or problems will ensue. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

think really all the as10 does is give a 12v to the lights , don't think really it matters what its feeding
as I see it switches a feed to the lights either there live or they not UNLESS you got a short somewhere possibley in the unit I had to repair a as5 unit the other day as a broken rear screen heater wire and a C/L wire had shorted and blown a bit of the printed circuit board , soldered a link wire bypassing the burnt bit and it all worked fine , before when you tried to lock it the motors screamed at you also the interior light might not be your only problem causing battery discharge if there is water ingress to the unit , the interior light might be the only one you can see |

Interesting as my central locking actuators and 10AS unto have just been replaced for that very reason. They were screaming when you operated the plipper.

IIRC the interior lights have a permanent live supply and are switched on when the earth side of the circuit is completed by the door switches, the switch on the light, or the AS10 unit.
Probably no help with your problem but knowing this may avoid confusion when troubleshooting. |
