Have noticed that on the two occasions my Puma was serviced at the dealers the invoice mentioned
CLEANER AUTOMAINTAIN.Checked out the AUTOMAINTAIN website. They have a number of interesting items. The" Fuel system clean and restore" cleans your injectors and also your EGR valve. Use once every 10,000 miles. They also do an "Oil system clean and restore" which you use during oil changes to clean out your engine and stop crappy build ups. Anyway this might be of interest to someone. Not sure which was used in mine, the fuel system one or the engine oil one. Any luck it will be both! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

I use some diesel additive that we use in the jag once a month, except I get it for free, our service manager says it does work and is worth using 2.4 90 XS

Have an e-mail from AUTOMAINTAIN stating that the fuel system cleaner is safe to use in the Defender 2.4 Tdci engine. Also it will keep your EGR valve clean. One shot every 10,000 miles does not seem bad. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Do they just pour it in the tank, to settle at the bottom and regardless of how much fuel you have on board?
Sounds like a recipe for disaster |

Hmm, with most additives, the instruction says to add it to an near-empty tank and then fill up. This ensures that the addivtive is mixed in with the diesel. Btw, I stick a bottle of Wynns diesel cleaner in the spare tank every 5000km or so. It kills off any bacteria that may grow in the tank/lines, and that also cleans the injectors. I learnt about this product when I put a bottle in SWAMBO's Audi A3 TDi - it drank some bad diesel and was not well at all. She is now running better than when she was new |
