TD5 fuel pressure regulator hose refit into cylinder head

Hi All,

New to the forum so usual excuses as I'm not a experienced mechanic.

I refitted the FPR in my TD5 in the summer to fix a leak, leaving the copper and hose return line from the head in place (the one that exits at viewers right on the FPR and runs to the front end of the block), bolting it back into the new FPR. This has now failed at one of the hose unions. I just had a look at removing this hose assembly from the cylinder head and it appears next to impossible! Any advise very welcome as a search of the web seems to offer up lots of advise on the FPR refit but without mention of this difficult to get at hose. I have crows foot spanners but can't get them in. Does this require a specialist deep sidecut socket?

Any advise very welcome.

I.e. brake pipe nut spanner

Hi Dorsetsmith. Thanks. Just took the angle grinder to a deep socket only to find that its still too restricted to get in! Spanner, meet angle grinder. Assume that you did this from the top and that it was not easy...

Any more info on this would be gratefully received. One modified 14mm spanner later, I could just about mount it, but there is then not enough space turn it! Jow the heck is this thing installed initially?!

Would say it's fitted with the manifold off in the first instance.
