Switches!
Hi Guys,

As a Td5 dash is proving hard to find I have decided to go down the iron goat route.

The radio mount is fine can sort that, and one of the gauge holes I am going to use for a tachometer, the other a round clock as the square one wont fit in the square hole in the new dash.

The row of blank holes I have got a row of blank switches for, but I want to know if there is a better route to go down than carling switches?

I really don't like them I thin k they are far too boy racer rally spec for my 110 which is anything but racey.

I would really like to stay more like the TD5 buttons but don't know if you can get them to fit in Carling style holes?

Does anyone have any options as far as switches go? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

The Iron Goat dash looks to already have Carlng Switch cut outs in, is that right ?

If so you might be better going with the Mudstuff dash ? Perhaps yousy be then able to fit packs of genuine switches - like these: eBay Item No. 181510450748

It's mad how much they go for on eBay, I've been on the look out for one for my tdi and can't believe how much some people will pay for them! I spoke to a well known land rover and 4x4 breaker not so long ago, and they say that it's folks with deep pockets from the states and Africa that buy up as much as they can and send them over there in bulk, where they make good money on them. Annoying as I would much rather a oem dash than a mud or iron goat, but for the price of what the td5 dashes go for you could buy a new mud dash and fit it out with everything you want and still have money left for other goodies!

Yes it does though that space now might get gobbled up by a CB radio.

How do OE Switches secure to the trim? Are they just on clips that push in or do they need a receiver behind?

I know! Its maddening as I don't really want to spend what is effectively a new door (which I need more) on my dashboard just so I can add some switches in the future! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197
