I'm planning to install a twin battery system and want to crimp the cables myself.
I've seen this on eBay and wondered if anyone has experience of using it...good/bad..? eBay Item No. 221553111158 Any other recommendations..? Cheers Simon |

I bought one a few years ago.
Owning an electrical contracting business I was keen to see what the quality was like when compared to a Cembre, Klauke or Kompress for which you are paying the best part of £1k with all the dies. There is no comparison!! The dies are soft, the seals on the tool are poor, the compressive strength is rubbish. If you want to make a few DIY crimps it'll do you a job for a short time, but its not a professional tool. |

You do not need a hydraulic one for your purposes. Whilst very cheap it will undoubtedly do the job but sledgehammer and nut come to mind. Klauke make excellent crimp tools but at a premium. I have this set at home but expensive. Try to find a non hydraulic one as it is unecessary.

Seems a good choice with some excellent reviews. At that price and feedback you cannot really go wrong.

I just order up some gear from Mobilecentre regarding a dual battery system too hang a 95 Nat Luna fridge etc. Anyhow order up one of them Chinese hydraulic $70 crimpers. I will report back, however it's only got too work a few times for it to pay for itself. I paid more for pair of Knipex pliers! I must agree it would not compare to a Cabac Cembre Klauke.

I brought one of these as it was cheap and to see if it was much good ( already had manual ones ), brought on a auction and even cheaper and its been good used it quite a lot , done 12v battery leads , 3ph workshop electrics , lent it out and it came back in one piece Last edited by munch90 on 31st Oct 2014 12:27pm. When I fitted a winch to my previous Defender I didn't have a large enough crimper so I improvised (owning a Defender makes this second nature) I used a piece of angle iron and a vice by using the point of the angle iron to force a V along the length of the terminal when compressed in the vice. This made the connection tight enough that I couldn't pull it off and never gave a problem when in use. 2005 Td5 90 XS
