Brilliant Bob - Thanks for snapping the pics - much appreciated! Sorry if you got caught in the rain.
The black CP looks great against the green on your defender. When I went to check on the truck today at the stealers the sales guy tried to convince me that the CP came with the gasket sat 1/4" proud. I told him that it wasn't right so he was going to talk to the workshop. So frustrating as it's already on and if they have to remove it, trim the gasket and then refit the CP who knows what other sins they could cover up. Looks like my local stealers are cow boys doesn't it or at best dumb wits. I feel a bit like rejecting the vehicle and starting again with another dealer..... |

I can't imagine how they can think that is correct - I have seen the OE kit before fitting and I am sure the gasket is the same size as the plate - could be wrong though.
Just missed the rain - thunderstorms here at the moment. If you want a good dealer if you decide to reject try Yeovil LR, mention my name and your vehicle will be a hell of a mess when you collect it .... only joking -great bunch of people Bob |

Have been told, but not checked that the chequer plate wing tops for a Puma is narrower then for a 90/110.
Gaskets are readily available for the wing tops. We apply waxoyl prior to using stainless nuts and bolts. HTH Brendan |

What's the general consensus on whether the plates can be removed and then refitted without detriment to the body work?

Should not be a problem as they use rivnuts on OE - or should do. I have removed my CP under the doors and that all went back OK. Probably all that will need replacing is the gasket. Bob |

Mine is original fitted from new - i will add that bob's covers are not fitted correctly either - the plactic vents should sit above the checker plate - ive never see it the other way round before. The puma plate technically is shorter - although i have the proper length that was made to fit by the dealer! the shorter version looks silly in my opinion - its because the bonnet is wider Mike |

Never worked out how they did that Mike - both my vehicles were done that way ! I actually like the 'incorrect' fitting Bob |
