An exciting day
A while back I was contacted by Land Rover and asked if I wanted to take part in a customer satisfaction exercise, so I replied "YES" and waited for instructions. I was contacted by a third party who was employed by the company carrying this out on behalf of Land Rover. We arranged to meet on the morning of my service.
This was a woman who explained the procedure to me. She had a small hidden camera which she activated when entering the company premises. She filmed the staff as to how they greeted me and treated me.
This is where it gets interesting. Normally my wife accompanies me so she is known to the garage staff. So when I turned up with a younger version of the wife I could see some eyebrows raised. Actually we were early and the only ones there were the cleaners! So we waited until the service manager etc arrived. Now I'd just met this woman but as I was supposed to know her I'd to chat away to her. But it went off very well.
After leaving in the vehicle, chatting to staff and staying clear of the camera (I could'nt remember which was my best side photographically speaking) we left. She left me until the time came to collect the vehicle when we met up again and re entered the garage where more surreptitous camera work followed. When we left in the Land Rover we went to a carpark and then the paperwork began. There was pages of it. I was asked my opinion on the garage, staff, costs etc. She also photographed the service book and the invoices etc. Then we went our seperate ways.
She was very nice, it went very well and I got a cheque for £100 for taking part.
It was the closest I'll ever get to having an affair or being employed by the secret service. Definately a day to remember Smile 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

How do you think it went ? Did the garage do well?
How did the research company know that you had an appointment ,wonder did the dealer give them some info and this making them aware of maybe a undercover op was going to take place sometime with the customers that their details they had given ?

Maybe I am over thinking this Surprised

From previous posts you've made ,I take it the garge was ' tp xxxxxx s'

When you agree to do it you let the company know when your appointment is due. You phone the garage through a given number which is recorded to make your appointment. All contact with the garage is recorded. The garage knows nothing about it. All Land Rover garages have to agree to this.
It went well as they always do a good job which is why I use them.
The price had gone up from last year as I got the same service done on another Land Rover. I did mention this during my conversation with the service dept which was recorded. And Holmes your deductions regarding the garage are correct. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Thanks Thumbs Up

Sounds like good fun

Do you think there will be any 151 DL defenders ? Before the end of production .The 90 ht ( so have the rest I presume) has taken a massive jump in price since late last year.

We should arrange a local met sometime ,may do a light bit of green laning

Don't know about the life of the 90. At a recent cattle mart up here there was one Land Rover (a 90 hardtop) and dozens of vehicles from the far east. I suppose it all depends on sales potential. The oriental crew cab has all but killed off the Land Rover up here. Will bear in mind a possible future meet. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
