Well I've just had a good look around inside the shroud and behind the dash. It looks like there is no exiter ring fitted either

don't need the exciter ring or the transponder coil. It's there to make life easier if the passive immob has been activated (red light on) and you try to start the engine, the transponder will send out a signal to the fob to send its unlock code.
if this is not there, the immob lamp will flash and you will have to manually press unlock on the fob before you can start the engine. any 10AS box can be transformed into one with central door locking by installing a relay, NEC EP2 3N1S. Land Rover scrimped on this and didn't have those fitted on the ones speced without CDL. With this relay in place, you will get 12v or -12v on pin 2 and 3 (green connector) when you press lock / unlock. this is used to drive the door lock motors directly. So if you can hold a solder and a sucker or wick you can easily accomplish this by opening up the box and soldering this onto the PCB. The defender has migrated, leaving the owner behind. |
