Cheap as chips and available in abundance for a TD5 one. Try sourcing one for a Puma, was easier and cheaper to design and fabricate my own.

i have a 56 plate, with a de-cat and cherry bomb, and it went straight through no questions, i think to be honest its down to the MOT station, if they know the vehicle is safe and they like you, it normally passes!

Wonder if the insurers would be so obliging in the event of an investigative claim? Any excuse normally? ![]() Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I'm thinking of putting my cat back on just to be on the right side of the law, plus I'm sure it'd make the exhaust note slightly quieter, has anybody put the cat pipe back on? Even if it was just to get an MOT?
I'm wondering what difference in power it'd make overall, is it going to be noticeable or negligible? |

It'll be the opposite effect of when you took it off! Can you not remember?
![]() ![]() I can still remember the significant difference it made when my cat was initially removed. ![]() Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

![]() I'm Going to see Gary at Alive and get him to check everything's running properly as when it was MOT'd the first reading was high, I just want him to check the map and diagnostics over and I'm tempted to put the cat back on beforehand, maybe even tweek the map down a bit |

Another option that I've just this minute posted on a sister thread before you refit perhaps? You could then fit and forget....

I did think of doing this but it's not as easy on the earlier models, the cat's not at the end it's more towards the middle so it'd probably mean cutting, removing and re-welding it

Does it not dissolve with petrol? Something in the back of my memory when they first came out that if you kept cranking a petrol engine cat would be damaged with the petrol?

that was if you cranked a petrol over the petrol would soak in to cat then when it started it could burn in side and the heat could melt the core , not dissolve it |
