Should be okay if you have commercial version though as im sure I read that they are not type approved.
Also looking at that legislation it doesn't apply to second hand 'converters' ![]() Last edited by rallysteve on 25th Sep 2014 3:52pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I think everyone you has de cated already knows they shouldn't , but its they choice , I know the chances of any one looking and knowing are slim
but to me I couldn't be bothered with the hassle if it was said about on a vosa checkpoint (and you know vosa love to find something wrong! ) and you don't need to buy a genuine cat as you could use a sports cat or cat off a bigger cc car van etc that way then it should not restrict the flow on your smaller cc engine , or a marked cat casing ![]() |

Same as metal bullbars, sticky out wheels, certain brand of beadlockers not approved for road use, spotlights fitted that don't have an illuminated isolation switch in the cab, seats in the back of a hardtop, not notifying insurers of modifications......... the list goes on. Fortunately there is always someone to point out errors of judgement to the perpetrators 'Justin!'
'Just in' case they weren't aware! Interesting point about second hand cats though. Thank you. Can always get the case chemically etched if need be. More than one way to 'skin a cat!' ![]() Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

...and the countless number of detachable receivers for towbars I saw at the show which I doubt are type approved/CE marked or even correctly load tested and I'm sure don't come with the correct ID plate noting max nose weight, max weight and date of manufacture/manufacturer. 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

Well I've just removed my straight through downpipe and replaced it with the original cat one, after cleaning it out with soapy water overnight (lots of dust and crud came out this morning when it was flushed out) and there is an obvious difference in performance but only noticeable at low revs - when pulling away etc. It's a bit quieter too but not much in it really. I'm not sure wether to keep the cat on or not but I'll give it a few days of driving it to see if I miss that initial grunt low down, to be honest it kind of makes the drive smoother now because it can be a bit jerky low down as the turbo picks up soooo much quicker in low revs. Time will tell.
