this is what you want: http://www.defender2.co.uk/gallery/albums/...0miles.pdf
As for belts there is only one (aux drive belt) as the main timing belt is a chain. I think the second of every service is the more expensive, so 2, 4, 6years or 24,48, 72k Mike |

Here too!!!! Top tip.....Find out how much an Independant charges for a service, armed with this information and if your desire is still to have the Main Dealership service your vehicle ...Negotiate!!!! It does work!!!!! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Even ring the dealers and play them off - you can save anything from £50 - £150! Mike

Always always negotiate, got significant deductions on service costs at my dealer after a couple of little chats...

Just agreed first service price of £185 inc VAT parts etc.
Dealership was happy when I told him rear diff oil seal needed replacing, response was 'well we make the discount back out of LR'! So negotiation works Brendan |

Hi Leeds,
My local dealership (Stratstone , Stockton), has quoted me £329 including VAT for a "B" service and MOT. Seemed not to bad. Willie Defender Virgin |

Mark,
You paid more than £120 more than I did for the same service at a dealership too! Next time negotiate and play them off against your independant price for the same service! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I reckon that's a fair price Willy. My independant came out more than that! Mse, I think it depends where you live too, I know a couple o' people Up North who have got a second service for around the £250 benchmark (not sure if they went with an independant). Have heard of people going to the West Country to get prestige cars serviced from London and the amount they save in comparison to London prices gets them a decent hotel, food and wine for the weekend for free. Not a bl00dy chance Down South...even the Land Rover independants I queried won't drop below £330-£350. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! Last edited by K9F on 10th Jul 2010 9:00am. Edited 1 time in total |
