Common sense prevails.... but only just. I note that the phrase "been decided for a generation" has been used by some this morning. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

I notice that as they've decided to stay with us that they've decided to share their weather with us or is it Cameron trying to make them feel at home?

A survey poll of 73... I didn't vote because it's meaningless and wouldn't change the price of fish or perhaps Arbroath Smokies in this case. I guess we'll never know. Personally I'm glad the way it's turned out. Can't wait for the post mortem and bone picking to finish and those that do decide to fall on their swords that they do it quietly. The good news... 85% voted.
1.6M for Independence 2.0M for the Union. Westminster needs to deliver now on its promises. England and Wales will be looking for more self governing powers too. The Politicians have again been poor to average throughout. The NO campaign was lucky to get this, with an essentially negative message. The YES campaign, which appears to be the young pro-independence vote in Scotland will not be happy this morning, unless ‘won round’ or at least pacified, will probably be back to try again. Pleased at the result though and that my flag still makes sense… SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Nah - they'll just end up drunk in casualty after glassing each other (or choking on their deep-fried Mars Bars...) Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I'm massively relieved.
It would have been a big negative impact for my family. Under a Yes... * Mine & MrsK's jobs would have made it impractical for us to stay in Scotland. Would we have been able to sell our Scottish house for a reasonable sum? The housing market had slowed here... * My In-Law's are Scottish, but live (at the moment) in NZ. They have already needed the British Embassy once...Would Scotland have had a Scottish Embassy there? Risk all over that one.... * My Brother-in-Law runs a small company with a high overhead of courier charges where they ship products mainly to England. Under a YES, he would have sacked Scots, and moved distribution to England to reduce carrier costs (i.e. no cross-border, or "international" shipping). and stay competitive. Phew. The stress fell off me this morning with the No Vote. Thank god common sense prevailed! Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Good to hear MartinK
My wife was born in Fife, she (we) have family there, running businesses, and it's the same story. SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

That was my reality check - living in Germany it's easy to see the whole thing as a farce but it's reminded me of what devastating consequences it could have had for some... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I wonder how many things were thrown at TV’s in Scotland this morning at 7.10am when a very smug faced David Cameron came out of No 10.
Personally I am glad that Scotland decided to stay in the union, though sadly it did highlight what a lot of Scots think of the English. Now its Wales turn to get what Scotland gets. |

And now it’s all over begs the question on most English Welsh and Irish peoples lips why the hell should the Scots get more money per capita head than us, plus more spending per head on public services and with all this it looks likely that they will also pay less tax. I can see trouble ahead! |
