Hi K9F,
I've only got one FOB as the guy who sold the truck to me only gave what was with the keys to bring the truck home. He forwarded the spare set of keys for the ignition and the fuel cap but no spare FOB. Been bugging him but he doesn't reply regarding that anymore. I guess he must've lost it or something. I guess I should buy another one just to be sure then. As for the low battery, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I will try this out and revert back with the results. Thanks a bunch! |

You need a new battery in the fob.
It's the fob's way of telling you. |

Thanks for the heads up, Laurie!
Will do just that before anything else wonky happens. |

Slightly....
Potentially with regards to your spare fob, it wouldn't sit comfortably with me knowing somebody else has a spare and could drive off with yours at any time. I would insist on him sending the spare or a written explanation where it may be. 'Stolen with keys' could have serious implications from an insurance perspective and explaining you don't have the spare may not 'cut the mustard.' Slightly unrelated but... I have done the alarm antenna extension mod and used to work miracles. But now the range gets smaller and smaller. And the battery is new in the fob. Don't understand. Any hint? My Land Rover doesn't have problems... it has features to keep me entertained doing DIY

Cyber absolutely no idea? It doesn't make any sense to me. Is it the same with both fobs and are you 100% sure the batteries you fitted are good? My extension mod was done 5 years ago and it's as good today as it was then. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Thanks CyberCharlie! That helps!
A quick update, changed out the battery in the FOB, all is now right with the world. Apparently all the symptoms were already in the manual. Silly me. Looks like I have to go through it again just to refresh! Thanks all for the assistance and support! |

Checked yesterday with both fobs... same result. brand new batteries in the fobs but the car locks/unlocks only when I am 2 mt from it max (even when I point the fob to my head... you know the "mind" trick). I will try to do the whole extension again and hope it works. My Land Rover doesn't have problems... it has features to keep me entertained doing DIY |

Cyber it sounds to me like the extension is either open circuit or perhaps shorting out somewhere. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
