Yes, go for the B+G quick release. Quite expensive, but excellent quality. I've just sold one on here as well as a Momo Nero.
The only problem was that even though it was a slimline B+G by the time you have the B+G, then the Boss plus the fitting kit it brought the steering wheel quite a distance out from the dash. Just wasn't for me in the end. Security wise, it is an additional 'quality' layer. You can get them both from Demon Tweaks, but expect to be paying upwards of £300-350.00 |

SMB thanks for replying,it must not be a popular MOD judging by the minimal response to my post.......how much further out was the wheel approx.........did you give it time to get used to it or is it just to far out ..as sometimes things instantly just dont look or feel right!
I have heard tales of it being a poor anti theft mod as the scumbags can drive it with mole grips(i personally wouldnt like to drive above 10mph using a set of mole grips!)Surely anything that slows them down is good in my book. I have noticed that one of the site sponsors sell these ..so if anybody from csk are reading this ...do you have any photos of your quick release modification in situ?..or anybody else who has! |

Hi
I fitted one & again sold on here as SMB say's it does bring the steering wheel that much closer & in the end felt that it just did not feel right, I had in on a momo nero steering wheel I think a good security option but I rarely took the steering wheel off the defender Will look to see if I have some pictures fitted & post Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 2020 P300 HSE |

Hi Martin,
I certainly didn't experience any play. As long as you go for a good quality one with the proper fitting kit and do everything up as tight as it should be you should experience the same. The B+G one locked itself together with about a dozen ball bearings rather than just a clip. Apart from bringing the steering wheel out from the dash my main issue was that it made the Momo restrict the view of the dials which was a pita.. One benefit though was that I have seat risers and it gave more leg space between the seat and steering wheel. Security wise, laziness and forgetfulness got in the way and I very rarely took the wheel off unless I parked it somewhere I didn't know for a. Lengthy time. |

Hi steve thanks for replying the boss that the QR kit fits onto looks quite deep ........i dont understand why this is!surely it only needs to be the depth of the steering stalk splines it fits onto plus a little bit? Could you reach the indicator/light stalk without removing your hands from the wheel?

You could always go the same route as diesel Jim and make a custom low profile boss

hi thanks for that but its beyond my engineering skills.........Its the illogical depth of the boss that appears to stop most people using the system as an anti theft layer...........you would have thought some company would have made a a thinner boss as it would be a winner imo........there must be a reason for most of the bosses produced being roughly the same dimensions?

Alive tuning produced a thin boss but were sold out when I tried to order one. So I use the Momo steering boss and the snap off quick release. Don't really notice the closeness of the wheel due to fitting exmoor seat risers but do notice how far away the indicator and windscreen wiper stalks are.

Hi i looked at alive website i think they are only seling the momo boss now.....
does anybody have one of these twisted bosses. http://www.twistedstore.co.uk/products?utf...words=boss Two momo wheels requiring what appears as two different sized bosses ..not confusing at all!does anbody know why? Its strange to me that nobody has manufactured either a steering wheel with the boss incorperated in the wheel or the thinnest boss possible .....come on you defender specialists do something special and not like csk who appear to rebrand stuff and add a 40% markup! |

I have a Momo wheel and quick release system. I can't say I really like it that much! It was meant to be an additional security measure, but the wheel is too large to be carried around so it ends up staying in the car.
Among the things that don't quite work for me: - I have a lifeline system on my race car, which feels much more solid. The Momo one feels flimsy in comparison. I often wonder if the wheel won't at some point come loose ... - There is a bit of play b/w wheel and boss. Not a lot, but enough to notice - Self cancelling does not really work. Lugs on the boss are not in the right position. If you want it to work, wheel won't straight any more - Indicator / wiper stalks are too far. You get used to it, but it's just not ideal As mentioned earlier in the post, a bespoke solution would be much better. |
