Winter tyres and snow tyres are generally different, winter tyres have much less aggressive tread suited for very cold or freezing, icy roads.Snow tyres are for, er, snow.imo I'd stick with winter tyres which much more practical and still take you pretty much anywhere and carry a set of chains which will take you anywhere. ^^ Jim, winter tires as we know are of a softer compound and have specific additional sipes which flexibility supposedly allows snow to evacuate more easily.
So what are the specifics of a "snow" tire then which you say are different from winter tires? Can you give examples of what you call real "snow" tires, and which would not fall under the more common denominator of winter tires? I don't know of the existence of any tire at all which is a real "snow" tire. I know people on here often talk about "snow" tires, but I believe that category just does not even exist. All those tires are actually "winter" tires. Eric You never actually own a Defender. ^^ Nice tire
![]() http://www.nokiantyres.com/summer-tyres/nokian-rotiiva-at/ As winter tire, here is the Nokia tire of choice for our Defenders. Land Rover Switzerland sell these as an official LR accessory. I have those on Wolfs from when the truck was new, cannot fault them in the winter. http://www.nokiantyres.com/winter-tyres/nokian-hakkapeliitta-lt2/ Eric You never actually own a Defender. I have Cooper Discoverer winter tires in 235/85/R16 on Discovery2 and they are very good winter tires. They can be compared to BFG AT, when not on snow. I can recomend. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo
