Output transistors perhaps? If you've display and no sound easiest thing perhaps if you have one or can get a loaner is to try another head unit maybe? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

As I don't have access to spare or loaner head unit, it looks like I need to get the output transistors looked at as you suggested. Thanks K9F

Be careful of cost though, might be more worth your while and cheaper to get another.

Any decent ICE retailer should just be able to plug it in and check it if you remove it and take it in. Shouldn't need a strip down and detailed diagnosis to achieve this.

Don't forget to take the code key with you... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Thanks guys,
Just had another look/play/fiddle with the radio and as I was removing the brown plug the radio started to play!! (I hadn't turned it off) but when I pushed it back in until it clicked it went off again, I tried it several times with the same result, strange!! I'll see if I can get it looked at tomorrow |

Iirc that's the power supply plug, sounds like it wasn't secure.

The plugs for the puma look the same as mine, both plugs are a good tight fit, it was only when the brown plug was part way out that the radio started playing, but as I pushed it back in it stopped, I tried it several times, part way out it plays push it back in and it stops, every time it clicks when it's pushed back in so it's locked in place.

UPDATE!!
Had the unit checked out today and it turned out to be the right rear + speaker wiring that was at fault, as I don't have any speakers in the back, the wires were disconnected, and all back to normal Thanks to all that replied |

Yes, I think the guy descibed it as a intermittent short, going over all bumps an pot holes that we encounter everyday, and the rear speaker wires (where ever they are hidden ) were not secure!! so all sorted now, and one happy bunnie!!!!!!!
Thanks |
