DEFENDER 110 TD5 SUSPENSION PROBLEM

Hi folks, I'm going to explain you a big problem I've got with my rear suspension on my defender 110 TD5:

In the begining I was wearing my genuine rear coil springs with a extra (solid) elevation 5 cmts and my shocks were Terrafirma Pro Sport TF 121 this combination was working right, but last November I changed the original rear coil springs by terrafirma medium load 5 cmts Ref Tf 019 and the problems started.First I broke one rear shock and in a few months another one. Have a look at the pictures on gallery. I asked my mechanic and he told me that the springs are so soft and it's for this reason that the car lowers too much and the shock absorber breaks. what is strange is that according to Terrafirma these coil springs are sold together with the shock absorbers Tf 121. I think the height of these springs is not well worked out for these shock absorbers. Does anyone know anything about this or has had a similar problem?

Pd. When I went to my mechanic to change the coil springs I noticed Terrafirma TF121 (not installed, on the floor of the garage) were about 3 cm shorter than the genuine springs with elevation.

if its bottoming out then your springs are too soft. you cant really compare old springs and new springs as they may sag.

Also, id have assumed the bump stops on the axle would stop the damper completely bottoming out.

Yes you're right about the bump stops but if the length of the shock is shorter than the distance of the bump to axle,,,,the shock breaks.

Sorry to say, but terrafirma suspension is rubbish. I would suggest fitting decent quality springs and dampers.

I've had a few terrafirma suspension parts, and also other mates trucks, all have been removed and scrapped

Hi Andy I heard this before, if I don't find an answer I will put the genuine springs.
