United Kingdom 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Indus Silver
Diff Oil Seal (pinion)
The front pinion seal on my defender is leaking and the breather is clear! FFS! Under warranty till just before I can get it to the main dealer too!

I have ordered the seal and will do it myself when I give her a service next week. The question is: would you pop the seal with just a little lube on or pop a bead of instant gasket aroung the outer of the seal? If so; setting or non-setting?

silicone sealer does make seals slide in easier and you got the added bonus of sealer round the outside just in case , BUT only use a thin smear round outside and make sure none gets on the sealing lip as it will make it leak

France 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Zermatt Silver
Rear Diff Oil Seal
Looks like I need to change the rear diff pinion oil seal Sad

Does anybody know the correct part number for a 110 puma SW (Registered Nov 2007). I see two part numbers listed for the rover axle.

Is the any complication regarding changing the seal with the axle/diff in situe? My puma workshop manual doesn't mention the oils seal replacement and my older 110 manual only describes the oil seal replacement only with the pinion removed as part of a complete diff over-hall.
