Censored , having fabricated the new mount I did a SWR reading today.....just the same as before. Cant get much better than about 4.

I plugged in my handheld CB just to see if the CB unit itself as causing problems, but similar readings.

I've got some new cable on order and I think I'll order a new aerial & mount.

After that, I'll need to swap the truck.. Rolling Eyes

^^^I was hoping that the super ground plane provided by the roll cage would be enough. I've scraped the paint off the roll cage so there is direct metal-to-metal contact between the mount and cage. The cage is multiple located to the chassis/roof/rear tub etc

To conclude this, I got a new aerial, mount and cable/connectors and I now have a 1.3 SWR reading across all channels.

Very pleased, not sure which of the above made the biggest difference but glad it did.

It might be worth considering a artificial ground plane, made a big difference on my set up.
