Went to the LR dealership picked up 1L of MTF 94
Got home and changed g/box oil & added some LubeGard additive Noticed my T/case rear output seal is leaking again needed to some oil to the box (another job on the list and explains why the handbrake is not much good.) Started running some extra wires for the 50amp anderson plug on the front - additional power outlet for when camping etc. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Passed MOT yesterday.
A few bits required beforehand, rear anti rollbar balljoints and bushes, steering damper bushes, track rod end and front shock turret cones. Of course, the nuts sheared on the rings so it was a bit more involved than it might have been, but it was a good excuse to remove everything from the front suspension and clean it up, especially around the chassis brackets. All nicely painted and back together now, ready for the weekend. For a fourteen year old vehicle, it's amazing how tight it feels in the suspension with the new bushes. No knocks or rattles whatsoever. Jon. |

No balloons or exotic places for mine!
I loaded it up with tools and went to fix my malfunctioning tractor. (Old school use of a defender.... ) |

Had it examined to be cleared for use in The Netherlands (bought it in Germany). Took about 30 minutes of mostly paperwork to be cleared and the vehicle's data to be entered in the database. They checked the that VIN matched the German documents of course. Oh, and they measured the wheelbase and overall width, that was it!
Because the car came with a recent MOT valid for the next 2 years (TÜV in Germany, APK in NL), I asked them to copy that MOT rather than having to undergo (and pay for) a new one. As the car is from the EU, they agreed. Bonus: they copied the 2 yr validity, even though in Holland MOT (APK) is only valid for 1 year! Then I drove back to my house, following a direct route home in accordance to the rules that come with the "examination-day-only registration" (hence the funky plates). I may have taken "direct" a bit too literally though Click image to enlarge |
