Drove to a nearby chateaux and watched a chivalry display. The kids loved it even though it was all in French and they didn't understand a word Laughing

I am sorry to have to point out the obvious, but you made a typo: didn't miss a BOAT! Rolling with laughter

Everything in life is somewhere else, and you get there in a Landrover.

Lubricated my ignition lock with graphite powder tonight. Works a treat again, the occasional difficulties to get the key to turn to position 1 are no more. Thumbs Up
So then also gave the same treatment to the driver door and the rear door locks. Cool
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Got myself into gear and set about my swivel pins on the nearside front.

Here's the culprit for a lot of my steering judder, some of the bearing rollers were not cylindrically shaped anymore. It turned out that it was a good job I kept the spacer shims from previous adjustments as what was in the kit wasn't quite enough.
Taking the front hub apart reminded me that that particular hub still has the spacer type bearing arrangement, the only wheel with that set up on the whole motor.

Having a really really really tough week at work this week for many reasons, coupled with issues at home and in my personal life.

However, shutting the workshop door at 5:30 walking out to my 110, unlocking it, It starting on half a revolution with a familiar cough and rattle melts 75% of my stress away.

Every day I drive home I get so much enjoyment out of my Defender that it reminds me what life is about and why I have her. On paper, it makes no sense, she costs alot to run and everyone thinks it is far too old and antiquated to be on the road, but for that hours drive home, wind, rain, sun and snow, the grin I get and the satisfaction I get every time I sit behind that Land Rover Logo is worth every single penny.
