Ventilation blower anemic, is that normal?
Is it normal for a Td5 to have ventilation (the one controlled with the sliders left and right of the dash) that, even on its highest setting, hardly blows more than a gentle breeze? I am glad I have an aircon model so for cooling and air circulation I can use that fan (and the air vents of course), but I was wondering maybe something is wrong with my heater's fan? No wierd noises etc I noticed by the way. Is this just Land Rover's idea of quality?

On my TD5 (without aircon) the blower on the highest setting delivers a fair blast of air.

Not sure if the aircon restricts the flow a bit..?

Check to see if your hoses behind the dash have come off.

Ok, will check. Any pointers as to how I best check this? Do I need to remove the dash or parts of it, on can it be done from the footwells?

Just to check, but fan is fully on with left knob down.

If the fan is turning (blowing) and there is nothing coming out of the vents then its sure to be something to do with the hoses. try putting your ear to the dash with the engine off to see if you can hear anything, also check your air vent if the heater can not suck in air there is nothing to circulate

Had a very similar issue with our TD5, check the resistor on top of the blower, water can get into it and corrode the resistor.

I checked and the fan is spinning nicely, the air intake up on the fender is not restricted and air is being sucked in. When I block the intake with my hand, I feel considerable suction, albeit not comparable to a vacuum cleaner.

However, I feel there's more air being sucked in than being blown out into the cabin. When I direct the air to the windscreen, I only feel a gentle breeze. When I slide the lever the other way, I hardly feel any air at all, anywhere. I guess it should go to the footwells, right? Maybe my aircon is obstructing the air?

Based on your suggestions, I suspect a hose has come off, or the valve that directs airflow (windscreen or footwell) is faulty. I tried to figure this out and started to partially remove my aircon-unit, but still could not determine the cause without having to unmount more parts of the dash along with it (for which I have no time now).

Thanks for the help so far (either by reply or PM), I guess this will have to wait until I have the time to remove the dash, which I plane to anyway, as I want to have a good look at the bulkhead.

I would check the cable operated lever first. Have a look down the left side of the heater unit and you will see it. It operates a flap which allows air to flow into the cabin.

I believe, although I could be wrong, that the fan lever in the cabin performs two functions, the first to open and close this flap and the second to switch the fan between its two speed settings. 2002 110 td5
