why not use a drl controller just 2 wires to battery and 1 to sidelight
don't forget if they come on with ign they must go off or dim when sidelights are switched on by law ,so you cant have them on all the time anyway having them come on with ign and on all the time day and night would be illegal |

thanks Munch90,,
good point, I had totally overlooked, just checked out wiring diagrams on dlr controllers, and looks fairly straight forward. Just to fully understand does this mean that sidelights have to be on for dlr's to work or will they come on with ignition, then dim etc when side/headlights are used |

ign on = no lights
start engine = lights come on sidelights on = drls dim or go off (I prefer the ones that dim ) headlights and sidelights = drls dim or off switch off engine so ign off = some controllers allow the drls to stay on for about 30 secs as a see you home function have a look at a few diffirent controllers as vary on functions , some dim the lights others turn them off etc |

I have fitted twin DRLS. One set goes off after about 30 seconds, the other can be 5 minutes or so. Where's the best place to pick up an ignition feed rather than the + battery so they go off with the ignition? Thanks 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X |

Yes, from UT. I also have a problem now with radio interference. .. I'm going to try the negative going back to the battery instead of the earth on the bulkhead. Perhaps a dodgy module. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

Still haven't managed to fix this.
Tried in line suppressors, ferrite things .. all sorts. As soon as the DRLs come on the DAB radio looses it's signal. (+ from the battery and - to the bulkhead earth point) I've pulled the fuse on them for the last month or so as needed the radio for my commute, but now getting questions from SWMBO about why the lights don't come on the expensive present she bought Need to fix it .. any ideas? 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X |

Hi mate
As you know I bought the same twin drl bumper as yourself. Where did you put the modules? I've got mine secured in the engine bay and don't get any interference with my radio, Coming and going from the + and - Once ignition is turned off and vehicle locked the inside lights (closer to the ref plate) go out first then after 60 seconds or so then the outsides go out other than this is all scratched from grit kicked up in the A roads I would have thought it wouldn't at least be better than this considering it happened on one trip! I wouldn't buy another. Davie. |

I've got the modules mounted together just to the right of the radiator inside the engine bay. I'll take it all apart and find a better place for the modules and re-route the + and -.
I have a little chipping on the bumper but not as bad as yours by the sounds of things. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X |

There is a good article covering this very subject in May issue of LRO International (fitting a DRL bumper) Page 146. Jeff
