Oil in air intake pipe?
I removed the air intake pipe yesterday on the clean air side of my air filter box where it goes into the turbo and found oil in the pipe leading into the turbo. Is this normal?

Yes. There is a breather from the rocker cover into the intake pipe which vents excessive pressure - this carries oily air which leads to the oil you've found. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk

see the Provent thread on this forum,

I have now been running with the pipe from the rocker box to the clean air side of the filter removed , a filter added to the rocker box pipe and the clean air pipe blocked off . Done about 1000 miles and all good so far and I know I'm not passing oil through my turbo, inter-cooler, egr, inlet manifold etc etc. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

As LR90XS2011 stated above. Provent filter fitted and it stops all the crud. In fact it was his I bought and fitted. As you've not an XS it is a straightforward fit but irksome with an XS due to the room taken up with ABS and aircon. Thumbs Up

Apart from oil vapour migrating into the intercooler and possibly 'carboning' up your turbo probably not a lot. Nevertheless it's down to personal choice and I think it's worth doing. Have a read below and make your own decision.....
