I insured a new Freelander years ago that we did a personal import on from Eire. NFU insured it on a chassis number.

Buy a base ball cap and shell suit ....its much cheaper than insurance.

Get quotes from the likes of:
uship.com shiply.com anyvan.co.uk Bound to be someone taking a car transporter to the south of France who could take it as a part-load. Managed to ship a Sankey (admittedly in-country) from Withams to Bristol for £100 odd Real trucks don't have spark plugs |

Get it to the French side of the channel then insure in France and drive it down?
