Finally fitted the "Holy Trinity"
So far I'm extremely happy - after a few short runs this evening it's smooth as silk and pulls like Jack Nicholson Now I just have to hope the turbo stays on (but that's another story). I'll revisit this thread after more testing tomorrow Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. Well, it's mixed news. The turbo definitely gives more torque all through the range - especially pulling at mid to high RPM. It also seems to improve at the lower end but I think I'm just imagining that.
Top speed also increased by about 7 km/h (to 165 km/h) but that wasn't why I got it anyway:) BUT unfortunately I blew the standard turbo gasket after 10 minutes at 165 km/h so that's work in progress. For those of you who don't know my previous turbo gasket woes, I am cursed but I will get there in the end. One last point - I think it might be a little louder than the standard turbo (quiet but audible whistling sound - just the air part) but that could have been the start of the gasket leaking. Next week, my local indie and I will start to address the leaking issue. I am confident Tell someone you love them today because life is short. Hi .. thanks for information, sounds positive.
I haven't read your woes of turbo gasket issues, however, I have had problems here myself with a leaky gasket. It started once I remapped and before I changed the intercooler. I do quite a bit of motorway driving so I just think things got too hot and warped a little. Anyway, I solved the problem with a 'high performance' gasket from Nakatanenga. http://nakatanenga-tours.de/shop/article_H...CHLDTD4%26 I got mine from Brendan at 4x4overlander .. http://4x4overlander.com/nakatanenga/nakat...asket.html Problem solved .. whistle had gone and has been fine for the last 5k miles or so. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X |

One last question .. Are you getting this performance with a standard exhaust? 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

Yes - exhaust is standard. I can't risk a decat here and Pete didn't seem to think it would make so much difference to warrant the legal risks.
K9F did send me his old cat which I have hollowed out and I'm trying to find a sports cat to go inside. Not high on my priority list though... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
