Little update (apologies to readers of a similar thread).

The Nakatanenga turbo gasket seems to be holding and only leaks a tiny bit (doesn't quite pass the spit test under load). I now know that the high pitched whooshing noise is the sound of the turbo and not a leak. It's audible but not loud (in the cab at least) and can't be heard over the engine/road at any speed. It can't be compared to the original anyway (performance internals) and in fact it sounds a lot like the turbo on my tuned Audi. I like the sound - like an aircraft taking off when you give it some welly Twisted Evil

Pete has taken a little off the top end of my remap to stop me overworking the engine (its "for my own good") but the 110 still goes like stink Mr. Green I'm towing again fully laden in a few weeks and really looking forward to not being abused by lorry drivers following me up hills Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Just thought I would revive this one.

Have you still got the uprated turbo? How is it going, problems, issues.

Who else is running an uprated turbo and supplied by who?

Std gasket or after market?

Std exhaust?

What are the main differences with the turbo? When I read modntontop end improvement what rpm range are people referring to?

My 130 seems to spend 50% of its time towing currently and is therefore worked harder up around 3k rpm. The rest of the time its generally around 1900 to 2500rpm.

Just wondering whether turbo is going to be a benefit over intercooler and map already on it for my style of driving/use. Cheers

The intercooler alone made a big difference for me, as did the remap. However, the remap can massively increase turbo temperature when you put your foot down and in my case this soon warped the turbo flange so that no gasket could adequately seal it (the flange area is pathetic on one side so even a Nakatanenga copper gasket distorted and blew out). This happened on two different turbos. However, once I had skimmed the flange flat again and fitted a turbo temperature gauge, I could use the stock stainless gasket and I’ve not had a problem in 3 years. My “silly driving” limiter is the gauge - once it reaches a certain temperature I ease off the gas.

The uprated turbo does make a difference but, having changed between that and stock, perhaps not as much as I first thought. Certainly nothing like as much as the intercooler and remap. If I had my time again, I probably wouldn’t get the turbo but I'm sure others have had different experiences… Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Ok, thank you interesting to hear ref turbo. I am thinking not worth it and haven't heard much to support having one from people that have actually done it. Cheers

I found my BAS remap made a considerable difference, the hoses and intercooler made (as expected) no difference, apart from the reassurance that they're less likely to go pop, and I keep looking at the turbo but can't quite justify it.
