Fuel in the electrics?

Bear with me... I am 10,000 miles from my car and it's going to be real hard to describe the problem / question.
So, when I bought the 2005 90, the private vendor noted that right in the centre of the bulkhead, in the engine bay, at the top near the windescreen, is a standard clip plug electrical connector with I think 2 wires from memory. And, if disconnected, isolates the - something - to prevent starting.
I remember this vaguely; I drive the car 1,200km from Switzerland to leave with a friend of a friend for 3 months, I lift the bonnet, say brightly I'll disconnect here as well .. I let the wire dangle ..
... and fuel appears to trickle down. !?

Just a bit. Then stops. Well I'm 24 hrs late already and can't stop to smell, poke, prod, worry.
Whatever it is will still be there in 3 months.
What was it? Is it possible? Was I dreaming? What is the electrical connector? And, might there be any implications in 3 months time? Just wondering, and have a nice summer while I am working down under. Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ...

Sounds like the connection on the "accident" inertia cut out switch. It has a rubber push button on top to reset it, and yes, if you unplug it, the engine won't start (and the temp guage goes up to the max, and fuel pump cuts out)

I suspect it is water in the cable, as it's right under the rubber seal that the bonnet should press against. IIRC the wire is in a loose "tubing", which will hold water easily.

The only other way fuel could get there, is if the fuel pressure regulator is squirting fuel out! but these only tend to dribble when they leak, so I doub't it's that.

Thanks for the explanation of the connector, sounds good to me, and makes sense, Land Rover would design it to serve a dual purpose as a water bucket. I'll relax down under and confidently start it in 3 months time.. Ta. Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
