Might have been cleaned and pressure tested but that ain't been skimmed. What's wrong with your old cylinder head. Don't go changing yours unless you really have to because it's going to be hard working out what head gasket thickness you want. 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold

Dan how do you know it hasn't been skimmed? i should have said recently skimmed, ie its been back on a car for 8000 miles! dont know about mine yet. all mine is doing is losing water, alot!! and its smoking it out the exhaust. bought this head as a cheap replacement should i find something bad when mine comes off. ive had a good look over this head with a steel rule and .08mm feeler and it seems OK there are place where a .04 will go under, which i though were strange for a skimmed head but then thought maybe they didnt take enough off! My 109 thread

Ah that makes more sense was purely the fact it doesn't look freshly skimmed mate. For that money it's worth it as a back up anyway. You may not even need it then, if you can get away with a light skim of your original head still and put the next thickness head gasket on you will be able to keep closer to the original engine spec and tolerances but you will have to see what you confronted with. I had a 95 disco 300 that i changed the head gasket on its a nice easy engine to do a head swap on at least. Good luck, hope you get it sorted 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold
