So went away the weekend and borrowed the parents caravan which was spotless until I borrowed it last year and bashed the rear corner....managed to get it repaired before they returned from their holidays
Anyway borrowed it again this weekend and guess what........? Yep bashed the other rear corner Sat nav sent me down a small lane so was only going slow when I went through a puddle that almost spanned the whole lane....BASH Wtf! stopped had a look and hey presto the back corner was bashed and yet couldn't see what it had hit.....in some puddle was a wheel trim and wheel arch liner.....put 2 and 2 together and only explanation I can think of was almighty pot hole.... caravan wheel dropped into it and back of van hit floor!!!! Blast. |

I believe you may be able to claim off the relevant council if it is designated an adopted road and not private. Worth perhaps enquiring. You could fix it.........
Then burn it! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

But first double check that your insurance for fire risk is fully up to snuff.... You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

that's not a caravan. Mine has a wash room bigger than that. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

What that needs is a a motorbike attaching to it, what a brilliant sidecar it would make |

Someone has chucked some tyres in the road now to prevent any more problems....
Anyhow I forgot the punch line.... can anyone recommend someone close to b'ham to fix the damage....minor damage to fibre glass / abs but the alloy channel needs some serious bending. Got photos and will see where I get with claim on council. |

Looking at that awning, if a gust of wind got under that, I think you would not just have an Off Road Caravan but an off the ground caravan as well. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Alloy channel? Do you mean the chassis of the caravan if so its a possible right off. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Is the caravan level or nose high when hitched? Could be the reason you've wiped it out (twice!)

Ickle. Yes van is a little nose up but much.
This time I feel it was purely bad luck and suspect the pot hole is like a plunge pool. Last time was down to a lack of experience...went over a grass verge which I knew def could take in its stride but didn't give due thought to what I was pulling |
