Mine groans too. Always has. Even my old 200Tdi Discovery had the same groan, so I would say its part of the Land Rover ownership experience!

Mine does exactly this 2001 Td5 CSW. No signs of fluid leak good fluid levels. No advisories on inspection! Reassured me 2001 Td5 CSW (weekend and snow mobile) Plenty of lights, M/T tyres EGR delete, roofrack, swing away wheel carrier, snorkel. 2016 E220 CDI Night Edition Estate 2014 VW UP! 2x D3 and 1x D4 GONE |

Same here had a td5 discovery with double the mileage of my 110 td5 and both had exactly the same groan. Don't worry about it. 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold

My 2011 90 groans when turning left at standstill or under 5 mph. My dads 1983 110v8 never did that and im not sure what it is as its full of fluid. 1953 80"

I groan all the time , so does my TD5 on left lock. 2001 DEF TD5 County

Another one to consider is the steering damper. The steering was moaning like hell and had (very slowly) been getting worse over the last 12 months.
I noted last week that the steering damper was leaking and when I changed it the groaning / moaning was virtually gone. Must have been the knackered seals in the damper making the noise. Dave |
