Your dealer can tell you the EKA code on the spot simply by plugging his diagnostic system into the car and reading the code from the AS10. It takes abut 30 seconds. Alternatively anyone with an aftermarket tool such as Nanocom can do the same. Your dealer is providing a very disappointeing level of service. |

For what it's worth, I have a 13 reg 90XS and it's had the battery disconnected and reconnected (accidental loose connection which set the alarm off a few times) without needing any numbers to get anything going so not sure if this eka thing really is required? 2.2 90 XS

If your remote plip malfunctions or doesn't work (eg due to RFI) you are stuffed without the EKA. It's a bit like a fire extinguisher - you may never need it, but if you do....

Zion speak from Experiance that's why I want the new one, like I say don't rely on LR Assist out of hours been sat on side of busy dual carriageway in freezing cold at night for over 5 hours. If you don't carry owners manual copy pages out and keep them safe with you.But don't leave code with them. And Dan you've excelled again many thanks for everyone's support on this matter and Dan may have sorted it. |

Hi,
Just replaced my 110 TD5 CSW, which I'd had for 11 years, with a new TDCi 110 CSW and very nice too! But I've got exactly the same issue. Handbook says there is an EKA code and you get it from your dealer. Dealer says no, no such thing. So I e-mail him this thread. He says I'll go and check. Today he comes back with "I can confirm that there is no longer a code allocated to the Defenders, this has come from Landrover themselves." So what is going on? What happens if/when my pinger fails? Do LR actually train dealers in the art of helping a customer? or is it a case of "we've got your money now f*** off, we're busy"
