2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
How hard do you drive yours??
So how hard does everyone drive their tdci's. I know they are not no race car but does everyone give them some stick or are they a lot of plodders. I wonder how Robust they actually are??

Well I drive my TD5 like I just stole it. I know its a different engine, but the TDCI seems to cope ok in 1000's of plumbers vans so must be able to withstand a fair amount of abuse!!! Thumbs Up

i think its a pretty tough engine! as people said, if its good enough for a white van man then its good enough for us...

it also is fairly well accepted that not working it every so often isn't great for it either. They don't like spending their entire lives at 1500-1800rpm thats for sure, need to let it stretch its legs! Cheers, David

I stretch mines legs every now and then but even then only get to about 2500 rpm

Most of the time I change up between 1500-2000 rpm and seams to not be a struggle since the remap

The engines are bomb proof, the transmission not so. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Mine gets up to about 3k or so fairly frequently but am trying not to grab at the gear changes -- it doesn't seem to like it. Most powers developed between 2k and 4k anyway I think? 2009 110 XS Station Wagon

my driving style has changed since its got 11k miles on it, I now generally change up a gear at 2000-2500 rpm but am happy to take it to 3500-4000 if I'm in a hurry. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Not bothered about the fuel, if I was, I wouldn't drive a defender.
