United Kingdom 2008 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Tonga Green
Hi lads,

So my mate is part exchanging his 90 for a 110, his 90 has chequer-plating already fitted, he's offered to take the chequer-plating protection kit he has of his landy and give it to me for free! But, it's just bare normal silver. I'm going to take him up on such a generous offer and just spray the kit he's giving me black... I just don't know what type of black spray paint i should get from halfords? Matt black, gloss black, satin black, landrover java black... etc?

Can anyone help me out, cheers! Smile

Joe90.

if its going on to aluminium plate then you will need an etch primer. With out this the spray paint will just fall off.
Go to a proper auto paint factor, they will advise you - I imagine you'll just get a blank look from halford staff Shocked Shocked

Don't paint powder-coat but if you do that you might as well buy new Confused

Paint will chip however its applied if you intend to use the CP as intended (ie not just to look good)

I paint / Powder-coat enough alloys to have a vague idea

Really guys... get a life and stop fretting about a useless "enhancement". you drill the holes and you will live to regret it. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
