Chequer plating colour help
Hi lads,

I've decided to purchase some chequer-plate protection for my ninety. However, before I do so I would like some help from you guys. I'm really crap with choices and I know its personal preference and all but i'm struggling to decide whether to buy the plating in matt black or silver? Which colour do you think would compliment my landy the most?

Thanks,

Joe.

Hi Joe,

I've got Land Rover's own silver fitted! It is down to personal choice but I would say personally that the Land Rover supplied option is the best quality and the finish of the silver very resilient and after a year fitted no tarnishing and cleans up like new! Can't say anything about the black but for me I would pay the extra, stick with Land Rover supplied and go silver next time too!

Alreight Joe. My Landy is silver and has the Genuine black chequer plating which I think looks good, and gives it a bit of contrast. For me as a general rule it would be, dark colours look better with silver, lighter colours black, but thats just me. What colour is your 90 Joe?.

My landy is rutland red as shown on the left hand side of this page. I think black would probably look best as it would blend in quite well with all the other black stuff on my ninety. i.e. wing mirrors, wheel arches, headlight surrounds etc. Am I just simply thinking about this to much? Laughing Thanks for the help so far guys.

I was thinking on anodized silver.
Look at the bearmach catalog. They show a red def. Puma 110" SW

No, I spend weeks thinking about what colour/style/make parts to put on the car. I'd agree with your thoughts though - go with black to match the mirrors, air intakes, sills etc. Personally I went with black Mammouth and can highly recommend it. Peter

Standard available finishes are natural, silver or black

Natural is cheaper and will dull off/tarnish quickly

Silver will tend to reflect light into your eyes more

So my choice as fitted to both our 110's is black

Other alternative is to buy natural and then get it powdered coated to match your vehicle

I went for black. It matches with all the other bits including the rocksliders...
Hope pics help make your decision more clear Smile

I have OEM black and it seems pretty durable (It regularly gets used as a step/workbench/tool store...)

Black will definitely suit the Red better IMHO.

As Discocuzzy says, you don't have to go for LR original. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
