managed to get front springs on today. standard yellow yellow with isolate-rs top and bottom. havent drove it enough to say if its any better yet! but i think it may be a little smoother! sure removing HD ones from the back will make a bigger difference.

new spring with isolaters

Rear standard springs went on today, I'm hoping they will drop a little as they settle.
Doesn't look any lower than the old +2s

excuse the psychedelic colour!! Rolling with laughter

after using the motor all day today over the horrendously pot holed roads on my commute, i must say i'm underwhelmed by the "improvements" gained by going to standard softer springs with isolators top and bottom!!! Crying or Very sad
maybe the poly bushes are not helping either, also gonna check tyre pressures and lower them if to high. My 109 thread

Have you changed the dampers? IMHO they will make the real improvement for ride if you use a quality brand BM52

i haven't BM, its got yellow supergaz on! only covered 30k with them, they were on when i got it. eventually i will replace with koni's but im a bit hesitant to spend the cash if once again it will only be a minor improvement. My 109 thread

I'm surprised, the difference to mine was instantly noticeable. I'm still running on procomp shocks which might be the difference?

I too am aiming to fit some koni shocks but once I have got my other headaches out the way first.

What tyres and pressures are you running and what do you usually carry?

I am running General Grabber at2's at 40 front and 45 rear and find it a good trade off between comfort and load carrying capability.

tyres are bfg ATs 38 psi all round but gonna play with that! i wonder if the supergaz are quite firm. when i was changing the springs i couldn.t compress them at all by hand! ive got a boot full of tools that bounce and rattle around! i think i might go to work tomorrow with an empty boot and see if its any better. i think the tools banging around on the bumps might be making me think its the suspension banging! My 109 thread

You should be able to compress the shocks by hand.

When I took mine out I made sure I compressed them all the way to the bottom and released to ensure they were nice and smooth and free. If you cant do this I would suspect something wrong with them as they should be free.

Don't get me wrong its not a one handed easy compress but should just be able to lean on it and it compress.

stand on the front bumper and bounce...it should move up and down a coule of inches a least. Also look at the hand book as I think your front tyres should be around 28?

see chart here http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic24802....=pressures BM52

If it helps, I have yellow supergaz on my 110, and it's very firm. Being an ex tree surgeon's hicap they were probably needed but it can be really harsh over the slightest bump.
