Lakes Touring
I took the kids for their first time on my all time favourite drive from Ambleside through Langdale and over the Wrynose and Hardknott passes to Wasdale yesterday. They were so impressed by the scenery they even closed their iPads Very Happy

Small moment of excitement at bottom of the Wrynose when an AA man flagged me down to recover an old gent in a Focus who had managed to put both wheels over the edge. Uphill recovery on the 1 in 3 section, always a good reminder of how capable the old girl is. When out, he promptly turned around and drove back down again - don't blame him, if he'd done that a few hundred yards further up it would not have ended well Shocked

I was reflecting on the fact that the AA guy just assumed as as I had a Land Rover I would help, as have others and a policeman in the past. I think it is a nice testament that overall we seem to be a fairly decent bunch and happy to help!

I love this photo, the defender just looks right at home there. With hardknott fort in the background. Many a happy hour I have spent up there walking around that fort.

Nice pictures, love the last one.

Is there a 2015 Defender2.net calendar. Ideal picture.

Can I take it and use as my desktop wallpaper in work ? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Hi, is that a circular route or do you have to turn round when you get to the Wasdale Inn? Quite fancy that trip this weekend.

Thanks

Wasdale Inn is at the end of the road. Well the tarmac road, no idea if there are any green lands you can use to come back a different way.

Tip if you've not been before. The road to Wasdale and Hardknott pass is very busy during the holiday season. If you want to do them, best to them early in the morning, before all those who have no idea how wide/long their cars are get up and on the roads.

Thank you all for your kind comments - the scenery means the photos kind of take themselves!

@excossack be my guest

@landiedave @Dave78 is right, it's all footpaths from there on. They do take you up Great Gable or Scafell Pike though, so they are definitely worth getting out of the cab for Very Happy Fully Restored 89 110 CSW V8

Very nice - where was this?

(Edit) Actually I'm going to guess - top of the hill before you drop down into Landale from the western end?
