Rather than start off with the smallest size and work upwards and run an increased chance of illuminating the MIL light I took the logical step of starting off big size and working down. I have had the 18mm one fitted for nearly a couple of weeks now, no problems! Do not expect Ferrari or Porsche like performance but you can expect a significant noise reduction in engine noise inside the vehicle. Haven't had a complete refuel yet but economy seems marginally better too. Am happy with the result so far and grateful for Robofarmer's advice when I needed it most! Fekete decided a better option over the weekend rather than fit the EGR Valve blank was to get 'smashed' with his other half's chick mates! So no point asking him! Fitted third from largest plate today 16mm. Took longer to load pictures than it did to do job. Sorry about quality. Best I could do. Orientation of pictures left/right hand side of engine is assuming you are FACING THE WIDSCREEN FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE.... All bolts are 13mm Hex M8s. First photo shows redundant gasket, studs and nuts (replaced with bolts) and sooted up 18mm plate I removed today. Click image to enlarge Right hand side of engine there is a bracket with three bolts. Undo uppermost bolt (shown with spanner fitted) to slacken off EGR Valve assembly. This will allow you sufficient slack to remove gasket and fit plate later. Left hand side of engine, locate EGR Valve manifold branch and remove the two M8 bolts retaining gasket! (Socket shown on uppermost bolt) Originally I had to remove the studs at this juncture and replace with the two bolts supplied. Fit blanking plate of your choice. Finish off by tightening up two blank securing bolts and supporting bolt slackened off on right hand side of engine. Happy days. Just for better clarification I have taken some pictures from a little further out, by cross referencing with the photos in my previous post you can see exactly where you need to be. Assuming you are at the front of the vehicle facing towards the windscreen.

whats the best way to remove the studs ?
and which one should i fit first i know robofarmer has the 14mm on his and by the sound of it 16mm in others cheers steve 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |

Stud removal was carried out using a 4 or 5mm star style socket (not hex)! You will not have enough access for the age old 'two nut method!'
As 19 mm was the general size that was deemed as functional (without the illumination of the MIL light) I could see no point at starting off with the 20mm one. I have an ITG Performance Filter fitted and I went straight for 18mm. Two weeks later with no problems I have swapped down to 16mm. Will go smaller again in a couple of weeks if the MIL light does not illuminate. First time to remove studs, speak to Robofarmer and get it done I ripped my hands to shreds and it took over two hours, this time 20 minutes as I had the knack! Hope this helps people. Karlos if I popped up to you we would have more chance of getting pie-eyed from alcohol abuse rather than fit the EGR Valve blank. Being pestered by 'Pat' and 'Mini Pat' as we are at her flat and I am using her 'pooter!' If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Yes, discard gasket! But retain in case you need to revert back to original state at any time! As you can see from my 'sooted up' plate a gasket is not required and I had no real leaks! Unless of course you want to go 'belt and braces' buy a second gasket and fit one each side of the blank! I didn't! Hi K9F do you think the air filter type as any real influence? I have a chip where I can adjust the "the amount of fuel send by the pump" and I never had a mil light on, even on the worse case.
