Have any of you mounted the towing electrics in the rear cross-member gap?
Just wondered if you used a bracket or straight to the chassis. Also the ready done plug i bought has a connector ready wired are there any gaps to get it through. Any tips appreciated as will do it tomorrow evening and although im very practical, electrickery isnt my strong point! Defender puma dormobile camper |

Lovely job cheers Seb and Andy
only thing is I might have to un-wire the block connector by the sounds of it as it came complete with the wires already so it looks a plug in sort of job, but not sure obviously until tomorrow. Thanks Tom Edit; this is what i bought; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181308267814?ssP...1439.l2649 Defender puma dormobile camper Last edited by SailingTom on 26th Mar 2014 9:23pm. Sailing Tom, sorry I can't offer any practical support, but would like to join in this thread as it is near enough the same issue I am looking at for my TD5 cross member. Plus how you undo the tow pack wiring loom electrical connector...mounted a receiver hitch months ago, but haven't electrified it yet! Many thanks

The plug fits through the hole, it just takes a bit of fiddling.

I thought the same at first, as mine was mounted on the standard tow bracket, but a bit of fiddling and job done. I just used three stainless steel screws.

Cheers Guys fitted it this morning
Must be easy as took half an hour, Only problem I had is with the 90 puma fuel tank it would go through but wouldn't turn to come out the other side. I Cut the 2 opposite corners as shown in the picture and it slid through a treat. Drilled some holes and gave it all a good coat of waxoyl before fitting it and used stainless screw. All fitted nicely and looks much better/ protected tucked in there.
