There was some in mine when I removed the intake a few weeks ago but it was relatively clean oil and only a drip run or two.
Difficult to see from your photos. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

3 litres in 6,000 miles seems a little excessive.
1 Are you positive that the oil was up to the high mark on the dipstick when you got the vehicle back after a service? 2 If it were an older engine circa 2007/2008 I'd be getting worried. Check out my thread listed "engine worries". http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic27393.html Get a smoke test done. If the reading is anyway high oil is being burnt. Get someone to follow you in a car and get them to check for blue smoke on acceleration. If there is none it is not burning oil. High oil consumption was one of the symptoms that my engine was in bad shape. If your engine number is not (and it should not be given that your vehicle is 2010) within the range effected you should not have the problem I had. I'd top it up to the high mark and check it regularly. If it is using oil you'll soon know it. If not it probably was not filled correctly at the service. I would not worry about a miniscule amount of oil on the hose you mention. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

That does not sound right to me. At that rate you'd have more than replaced ALL of the oil in your sump between services by constant topping up. 1 litre every 1,000 miles equates to 12 litres over 12,000 miles. Your engine takes 7 litres to the full mark on the dipstick. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I am aware that new engines will burn oil but still 1 litre per 1,000 still seems excessive. If you read my post http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic27393.html, you will see that constant topping up was one of the symptoms that my engine was very sick indeed and is now being replaced.
Maybe Ford sold all of the defective engines to Land Rover and kept the good stock for themselves 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |
