MP3 only Head Units
Has anyone fitted one of the cheapish MP3 only (no cd) head units? I am thinking about one of these as a combination of scratched CDs and HD springs makes for quite interesting listening! I am not inclined to buy anything bling because it just aint that much of a priority. Just being able to stick a load of music onto an Sd card or usb stick and listen to it without it jumping will do me. TEAC do a unit available for £30some but no name ones seem to start at around 20...since there are no moving parts as such I am thinking cheap maybe ok... but would be interested if anyone has tried these already!

Hi, I bought a Kenwood head unit which just has an Aux socket and a USB port. I just use cheap memory sticks, load them up with music ( normally 8 to 10 albums per stick) and off you go.
Mine was about £60 and after 5 months hasn't had any problems. The only thing I can't get it to do is display album / track info. Maybe it doesn't !
Would happily recommend one.

I got a pioneer one from halfords for £30 and just listen to the radio or plug my iPhone in for music. It works perfectly well for what I need

Installed a kenwood kmm-357sd a couple of month ago: USB (iPhone) and SD card reader; nothing to complain about so far: cheap and good sound.

Cheers,
Arnaud

Yeah, I got a Bassface Mp3 unit in my old 90 - about 30 quid. Pretty good, does what it says it will, not too many frills. Quite happy with it.. 1959 Series 2 Ragtop
