Hi
can you take the fuel pipe off under the bonnet by the inlet somewhere and run it all into a tub (extended hose etc) and leave the ignition on?? |

Tried siphoning but don't seem to be able to keep the hose in the fuel, going to try another hose. 2.2 90 XS

Disconnect the fuel line inlet side nearest the fuel filter, that way you won't be running it through the filter either as it will come direct from tank. Might pay to park on a slight angle too to help the gravity flow.

if you noticed that mistake while still being at the fuelling station you could ask them for help.
Possibly they are prepared and have pumps at hand. Good thing then is you haven´t started the fuel pump by that time and pure Diesel is still in the fuel filter and the lines. When all is pumped out and Diesel filled in again - no chance for damage. |

Lidls were doing a special offer on transfer pumps last week. Don't know if it's still on.

No such luck landybehr, it has been driven for a couple of miles!
Also have found the fuel filter by the back wheel but no obvious way of disconnecting the pipes. 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

It looks to me like there is a low pressure connection to the fuel filter that can be released by pushing in the small blue bit of plastic, can anyone confirm that?
Now off to look in my Dgardel manual for clues to above. 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

Older Defenders used to have a drain plug in the tank. Pumas apparently do not. Below is a direct cut and paste from the workshop manual....
Fuel System - General Information - Fuel Tank Draining General Procedures 1. Remove battery cover. 2. Disconnect both leads from battery, earth lead first. WARNING: Fuel vapour is highly flammable and in contained spaces is also explosive and toxic. Always have a fire extinguisher containing FOAM, CO2, GAS OR POWDER close at hand when handling or draining fuel. 3. Using a fuel recovery appliance, drain the fuel from the tank into a sealed container. Follow the manufacturers instructions for the connection and safe use of the appliance. 4. Remove filler cap and insert hose into filler neck. 5. Connect bowser earth line. Drain fuel. 6. Connect battery leads. 7. Fit battery cover. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
