Only options you have with diagnostics onna TD5 are Nanocom,Hawkeye or Lynx.I only assume they will check injectors, either way it's £300. Also new TD5 injectors from LR are about £400, EACH,so you might wanna take it to a garage first, I suggest someone with Autologic or official LR diagnostics,Snap on is meh!You also need the *injectors re-programming with a diagnostic tool,I'm pretty sure any of the above 3 will do that,I think.
*Shoulda said the REPLACEMENT injector will need programming (after it's been fitted, lol). Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. Last edited by jimbob7 on 19th Mar 2014 5:22pm. Edited 2 times in total |

See my thread here, diagnosis didnt show me which was at fault, a used set was fitted and cured the problem...

Cheers for input..
I work on Evinrude Etec outboards and part of the diagnostic software tool is to dynamically switch off injectors and ht circuits to diagnose problems, I'm interested to know if a tool exists for the TD5, finding my faulty injector would be easy! Have been told there is a tool that allows the opening times of injectors tobe altered making it possible to shut them off individually, anyone tell me what tool dose this? Yes probably the cheapest way is to buy a 2nd hand set but firstly how do I know there not guna be the same and I'm still going to have get a "plug-in" to match the codes.. Anyone had there injectors cleaned? If so who is recommended? |

You can fire the injectors individually from the diagnosic software, but doesnt tell you if you have a wiring fault. "Rafiki" 2007 110 STW - Rolling rebuild.

Have you thought about the injector o rings and washers? Thats a common poor running fault.

With nanocom, you can fire each injector individually (when the engine is off), you hear a click when they fire.
so you can narrow it down to which injector it is. I had a similar fault a couple of weeks ago, my Td5 became a Td4, and it was the plug that goes into the head, just unlugged it, plugged back in, wiggled it, and it's been fine since. A friend bought a cheap disco2 as the engine was "knackered", and one injector had a loose plug on it! just used the nanocom to see whcih one (think it was 3, the middle one), unplugged, plugged back in and it ran perfectly. I suppose if you had a spare injector, you could plug it into the *duff* plug (once you find out which one it is that's not firing) and see if it's the injector itself that's broken or the wiring. or just stick in a test lamp and see if it flashes when you fire it in test. |

If you have the symptoms only at idle, and specially after traveling and you just come to stop (as for a red light ), have in your mind, that if the original dual mass flywheel is near to the end of his life but not yet broken, you could also have the same symptoms. Rough idle for a while until the engine management finally stabilize the symptom. In that case the idle will play between 740-800 for some seconds (depending how bad is you flywheel...) Now for the tool, you cant beat the old trusty version of Nanocom If you find one on ebay, grabit.. www.off-road.gr |

With the engine running the Hawkeye will read the injector inbalance. I think tolerance with in +/- 5 is acceptable. Maybe someone can confrim this. I also need to play with the nanocom to see if it reads tis as well.
Would you not be best to change injector seals first. It won't cost you more than £15 if you do it yourself. And if you are find a slide hammer to pull them out and once out don't wire brush them to clean off the dirt. |

SOS all been too busy to think bout landy part from givin her a wash of course!
I have already replaced the injector o-rings and copper sealing washers whilst trying to sort the last problem I had.. I must try the connection that connects the injector loom, seemed very secure when I was replacing the injector loom. The local land rover mechanic I spoke plugged his diag. tool in to check fault codes and injector coefficients, all is correct. Typically the problem wasn't accuring when I was there, he said if it was then he'd be able to tell which one somehow.. He describe it the same a Ruari ! I'm keen to go for a boost modul, intercooler and a remap but reluctant to do it with running problem.. |
